The Graham Independent School District didn't have to look very far to find its next head coach. He was already on the staff, and he comes from the same lineage as the former head coach.
Former ACU football letterman Brad McCoy resigned last week as the head coach at Graham, and he was replaced Wednesday by former Wildcat all-America defensive end Kenny Davidson, who served as McCoy's defensive coordinator since 2005.
Prior to joining McCoy in Graham, Davidson had spent 14 years as the athletic director and head football coach at Fort Worth Christian High School. While there he won a TAPPS Class 3A state championship in 1991 and coached three other teams to state championship game appearances.
Prior to moving to Fort Worth, Davidson was a head coach at Borger, was the first football coach at then 2A Amarillo Highland Park and served as an assistant at Georgetown High School. Davidson graduated from ACU and is a member of the ACU Sports Hall of Fame. One of his daughters is former Wildcat women's basketball player Kristee (Davidson) Walker, who finished her playing career last year. She is currently married to former Wildcat football letterman Jody Walker and is a junior high coach in the Coppell school system.
