There was only one injury of note from the 19-14 win last Thursday over Northwest Missouri State, but it's a biggie. Senior FS and the unquestioned leader of the ACU defense, Tony Harp, sprained his ankle. During the taping of the Chris Thomsen show today, Coach T said it appears to be a low sprain, which isn't considered as serious. How much Harp plays Saturday night against Fort Lewis College will be a game-time decision.
DB Craig Harris is ACU's "Where's Waldo?" Last year, he appeared on campus seemingly out of nowhere a few days before the start of the season and went on to share the team lead in interceptions with three. Harris was huge in ACU's 52-35 win against WT in Canyon last Oct. 22. Picked Keith Null twice that night and forced a fumble. The second of those INTs denied a touchdown to Buffs WR Charly Martin at the Wildcat goal line in the 4th quarter. Three plays later, Bernard cruised 65 yards for the clinching TD.
This year, after academic issues kept him off the team throughout the entire Training Camp, Harris has completed some late summer course work and is now eligible to play. That's good because this week's opponent, Fort Lewis, is a pass-first offense and ACU is already minus one DB in Alex Harbison, who's out for the season with an injury, and may not have Harp Saturday night because of that aforementioned sprained ankle.
Finally, junior FB Emery "The Hammer" Dudensing is expected to miss his second straight game with an injured femur. He hopes to return for the Cotton Bowl game against A&M-Commerce next Saturday.
